Rosa True School Apartments, located at 140 Park Street in Portland, was originally built in 1844 as an elementary school that later closed in 1972. It was turned into apartments in 1992. In 2015, Rosa True was acquired and renovated by Developers Collaborative, adding 2 new units in the process. It currently offers two and three bedroom apartments for income qualified households. Rent includes heat, hot water, parking, service coordination and on-site laundry. Rosa True is the recipient of a Maine Preservation Honor Award and provides much-needed affordable housing on the Portland Peninsula.
