After closing out 2025 and welcoming the new year, we are sharing meaningful progress on the historic renovation of the Central Fire Station in Brunswick, Maine. This important community project continues to move forward on schedule, with several key milestones now complete.
All framing and utility rough-in work has been successfully finished, positioning the project for its next phase. The building is now prepared for its upcoming in-wall inspection with the Town of Brunswick, a significant step toward enclosing the structure and advancing interior work while preserving the character of this historic facility.
Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating the arrival and installation of new windows and doors, expected within the next few weeks. These elements will further define the exterior and represent an important balance between modern performance standards and the building’s historic integrity.
Later this month, we’ll be sharing a video update from Nolan Lyne, filmed on location in Paradise, Pennsylvania, at Vintage Millwork & Restoration, where the station’s three custom mahogany bay doors are currently being crafted. These doors are a defining feature of the project, combining durability, craftsmanship, and historic detail that reflects the legacy of the Central Fire Station. To learn more about the artisans behind this work, we encourage you to visit Vintage Millwork & Restoration’s website.
🎥 In the meantime, viewers can take a look at recent progress through the video clip below.
As always, we’re grateful for the collaboration and support that make projects like this possible. We wish our partners, community members, and project teams a Happy New Year and continued success in the year ahead.
We look forward to sharing more updates as Brunswick’s historic Central Fire Station continues to be thoughtfully rebuilt for generations to come.
About the Project
The historic Central Fire Station is being transformed into a mixed-use community hub. The ground floor will house Moderation Brewing, expanding production, entering the wholesale market, and serving as a community anchor with a lively taproom, indoor/outdoor seating, and a beer garden.
The second floor will provide five modern, affordable efficiency apartments with air conditioning, on-site parking, and laundry facilities, targeted to households earning 60% or less of the area median income.
This project combines historic preservation, small business growth, and affordable housing, creating a model for Maine Downtowns that supports workforce retention, community engagement, and revitalization. Opening is planned for Spring 2026.
